Tax Help at the Orcas Senior Center
Fridays February 10th-April 14th from 9:00am-4:00pm
This service is offered by Jim Biddick and John Carl, and is available to those who are low or moderate income taxpayers. This program is not associated with the IRS TaxAide program and is not a for profit program. The taxpayer will be responsibile for all information provided and for the completeness and correctness of the tax return. Returns must be filed by mail. The service is free, but a donation of $5 is appreciated to cover program costs. All donations will benefit the Senior Center.

OIPRD Basketball Tournament
March 18th-19th at the Orcas School Gym
Join us for the 5th Annual March Mayhem Basketball Tournament hosted by Orcas Island Park and Recreation! Saturday tips off at 9:00am with round-robin games in the OHS and Old Gyms. Day two holds the final tournament bracket, where teams are placed based on their Saturday earnings as they fight for first place. Sunday games start at 8:30am with the championship game at 1:30pm. Concessions will be available for purchase compliments of the Orcas Island Youth Majors Baseball team.

March for Meals Fundraiser
March 18th from 10:00-1:00pm at the Senior Center
Join us for this now legendary Spring Brunch hosted by Chef Christina Orchid, featuring Chefs Jay Savell and Ian Cassinos. Proceeds will benefit the Meals on Wheels program. Ticket prices are $15 for adults and $7 for children 10 and under. Tickets can be purchased at the Senior Center, Darvill’s Bookstore and at the Orcas Island Chamber of Commerce Office. Tickets can also be purchased at the door for $20 for adults and $10 for children.

Living and Dying Well on Orcas Island

Molly Roberts, Suzi Rose, Meika Neenan, and Dorian King (Hospice NW) will serve on a panel discussion about options and consequences of choices regarding where and how individuals live their remaining days on or off the island. Panel participants have helped countless people transition and will be able to offer an overview of how support and hospice works on the island. This event is free, donations are welcome.

3rd Annual March Turtleback March
March 19th from 1:00-4:00pm at the Turtleback Mountain Preserve
The San Juan County Land Bank and San Juan Preservation Trust invite you to embrace spring at the third annual March Turtleback March! The group will depart from the South Trailhead parking area (Deer Harbor Road/Wild Rose Lane) on board a Camp Orkila bus to the North Trailhead at 1:00pm. From there it’s “up and over” the mountain on an amazingly beautiful 5-mile hike back to your car.
