Call for Artists
The Art Committee at the Orcas Island Public Library is seeking applications for the 2024 exhibit schedule. All types of art — painting, sculpture, photography, mixed-media — are acceptable.  The deadline for submissions is November 1st.   Interested Orcas Island artists 16 years or older should submit an application including the following:
1. name, address, email, and phone number
2. six digital copies of your work
3. a brief (200 word) statement covering the artist’s interests and background
Applications can be sent to to the Committee Chair, Dave Kosiur at: dkosiur@gmail.com. Brochures with additional information about submissions and exhibiting are available at the front desk of the Orcas Island Library.

Friends of the San Juans Sucia Island Tour
September 8th
Join Friends of the San Juans and fellow islanders for a fun and informative excursion to Sucia Island. Tour the Mud Bay habitat restoration project and learn more about marine food webs and the work Friends does to protect and restore the San Juan Islands and the Salish Sea for people and nature while exploring beautiful Sucia Island!  Snacks will be provided, but guests should plan to bring their own lunch. Cost is $50 per person, which includes transportation to Sucia. Space is limited and there’s only a few spots left! Reserve your tickets now!

Rosario History Presentation and Concert
Tuesday-Saturday at 4:00pm at Rosario Resort
Join Christopher Peacock for an hour presentation of music and photography that walks guests through the history of Orcas Island, the Moran family and the Rosario estate.

Saturdays 10:00am-2:00pm at The Village Green
Featuring live music by Run for the Roses from 11:00am-1:00pm.  Come explore lots of local produce, plant starts, artisan crafts, flowers, delicious food, and many more goodies every Saturday until September 30th.

National Senior Center Month Reception
September 9th at 1:30pm at the Orcas Senior Center
Join Orcas Senior Center (OSC) in celebrating National Senior Center Month with a reception.  Featured speakers will include State Representative Debra Lekanoff, County Council Member Cindy Wolf and SHIBA Coordinator and Health Care District Commissioner Pegi Groundwater. Refreshments and music will begin at 1:30pm, speakers will begin at 2:00pm.

OICC Annual Fall Kickoff
September 10th at 10:00am
The day begins with our worship service at 10:00am, followed by a catered meal, live music, and a variety of fun games for kids! For additional details and updates, please visit www.orcaschurch.org.
