Tax Assistance for Low to Moderate Income Taxpayers
Tuesdays/Fridays By Appointment at the Senior Center
Offered by appointment only on Tuesdays and some Fridays between 9:00am and 4:00pm. This service is provided on a donation basis by Jim Biddick and John Carl and funds raised will be donated to the Senior Center. “This is a tax preparation service only, the tax payer assumes responsibility for all information presented to complete the return and for the accuracy of the return completed with the information provided.” To make an appointment call 360-376-2488, please leave a message with your name and number if you reach our answering machine.

Weekend Packs for Kids Program
Ongoing at the OISD Elementary School Office
The Weekend Packs for Kids program provides child-friendly bags of food for children who have little to eat over the weekend–over 50 grocery bags are needed each week. If you are interested in assembling a bag, each one contains food such as milk, fruit, tuna, cheese and crackers or microwavable soups. Regular full-sized grocery bags can be dropped off at the OISD Elementary School Office. Celebrating its 5th year, this program is made possible by dedicated volunteers, Island Market, Orcas Island Food Bank, OICF, Orcas PTSA, and the community!

Introduction to Pilates Workshop
Wednesdays/Fridays at 9:00am at Center Works Studio (The front of the Athletic Center Building)
Joins us for one of our gateway classes to the studio! Strengthen, tone, improve your balance and flexibility! The workshop is designed around beginning mat work with a discussion about the history of the craft. Over the course of the workshop we will move to more intermediate mat work and props, and well as introducing work on two pieces of apparatus-the tower and the reformer. After completing the workshop you are welcome to join any class offered by the studio! Enrollment for the 7 week program is $168.00 plus tax, for more information or to register call 360-376-3659.

Wilderness First Responder Course
March 2nd-11th at Camp Orkila
Featuring instructors from San Juan EMS, SOLO affiliate school since 2006. Course fee is $600, to be paid directly to San Juan EMS. $500 for accommodations and all meals at Orkila, lodging includes night of March 1st, meals from breakfast on March 2nd to lunch on the 11th. $110 for lunches only, if not staying at Orkila at all. Annual Kiwanis Paper Airplane Contest
March 7th from 1:00-3:00pm at the OHS Gym
Three competition ages groups:
8 yrs and younger
9-12 yrs
13 yrs and older
Rules state the airplane has to be built at home, by the person entering the airplane and using any paper materials that they wish. The most beautiful airplane will receive an award, judges’ decision is final. At 1:00pm, there will be a special “All Pilots” category run. It will take place in fond memory and in honor of Jack Conant, a retired pilot, Kiwanis member and a major paper airplane participant.
