Needlework Circle at The Orcas Senior Center

Join this weekly gathering for knitters, crocheters, embroiderers, and all needleworkers at Orcas Senior Center, every Friday at 2pm. Come hang out—no project required! Whether you haven’t knitted in years, want to learn to crochet, or just want to relax and chat, you’ll find a wonderful selection of donated yarn, needles, books, and plenty of friendly advice. Coffee Tasting
March 27th from 2:30-5:30pm at The Happy Cat
The Happy Cat is hosting a complimentary coffee tasting featuring a new small-batch local blend inspired by the café. This medium roast combines Colombian and Kenyan beans, offering notes of cocoa and nuts balanced with bright citrus and berry flavors. Guests are invited to enjoy fruit and toffee pairings, fresh-popped popcorn, and a lively, welcoming atmosphere—karaoke included. Attendees are encouraged to “Bring Your Own Happy” and gather with friends for an afternoon of connection and community. The event will take place at 1286 Mt. Baker Rd., Suite B108, in the Airport Center.
On Stage at The Black Box: How to Eat Like a Child
March 27th & 28th at 6:00pm, and March 29th at 2:00pm at Orcas Center
Orcas Center is producing an all-kids musical theater show! It’s a comedic crash course on the essential skills of childhood through teen years. Through 23 hilarious lessons, children teach the audience the joys and sorrows of being a kid. The cast age range is 8 to 17. There are group musical numbers, solo songs and more. Tiered ticket prices are $50, $30, or $20, ($10 student and senior tickets available) available at www.orcascenter.org.

Adult Ballet: Level 1 Barre & Stretch
Saturdays from 9:30-10:30am at the Orcas Center
Adults Ballet classes are a great way to learn basic ballet steps at the barre to help stretch and strengthen your body. Some ballet classes will learn short choreography in the middle of the floor and work on turns, leaps and jumps. Dancers of all levels are welcome to come give these classes a try. Ages 16+. Films at Odd Fellows: Love and Community

Join us for a special one-day film festival celebrating connection, compassion, and the power of community during uncertain times. Films at Odd Fellows: Love and Community features two thoughtfully selected films that explore the bonds between people and the resilience that brings communities together. Attendees are invited to stay after each screening for informal discussions and are encouraged to join for both films. Popcorn is welcome! 3:00pm– The Other Side of Hope (2017, 98 min, Finland), 6:30pm – Mississippi Masala (1991, 118 min, USA) Admission is offered on a $15–$25 sliding scale for one or both films, payable at the door. Contemporary Dance meets Sundays & Tuesdays from 10:00-11:15am, at the Orcas Center Dance Studio and Thursdays from 5:15-6:45pm at Odd Fellows Hall. Drop-in classes are $20, or save with a 5- or 10-class pass for $15 per class. Passes can be purchased through the Parks & Rec website or in person at the office(30 Pea Patch Lane, Eastsound, WA).
On Screen at Orcas Center: The American Revolution
March 29th from 1:00-3:00pm
Join the Orcas Island Public Library for a special community screening of selections from Ken Burns’ powerful new documentary, The American Revolution, followed by a thoughtful civic conversation about the founding of our nation — and what it means today. After viewing a portion of the film at the Orcas Center, attendees are invited to stay for a moderated discussion led by Orcas Island Public School history and social studies teachers Phil Carter and Bradley Ludwig. Together, we’ll reflect on the people, principles, conflicts, and contradictions that shaped the American Revolution — and explore how those themes continue to resonate in our own time. This event is free and open to all ages.

Benefit Concert for School Music
March 29th at 4:00pm at the Orcas High School Gym
Help fill the stands for an intergenerational community concert featuring young and young-at-heart local musicians. Your donations will support in-school music education here at Orcas Island public school, ensuring all K-12 students will have continued access to instruments, music equipment, scores, solo/ensemble events, regional competitions and inspiring musical experiences. Drop-in classes are $20, or save with a 5- or 10-class pass for $15 per class. Passes can be purchased through the Parks & Rec website or in person at the office (30 Pea Patch Lane, Eastsound, WA).
35+ Basketball
Sundays from 4:00-6:00pm at the Old Gym
Join other adult basketball players in pick-up basketball games on the full court in the gym. New and experienced players are invited to join a team. The gym opens at 4pm each Sunday, and play continues through 6pm. Indoor shoes are required. Balls and a first aid kit are provided. Pay $5 for a one-time drop-in, or pay $30 for a 6 month all-access pass that allows you to drop-in to any adult sport, including soccer, volleyball, and ultimate frisbee. Buy your Drop-in Pass Here.

Drop-in 15+ Futsal, $5 drop-in per class or $30 for an all-pass for any drop-in sport. Coordinated by Orcas Island Park and Recreation.
On Screen at Orcas Center – SAMA: To Listen
March 29th at 7:00pm
Join the Orcas Center for the 90-minute documentary “SAMA: To Listen”, followed by a Q&A with filmmaker Darek Mazzone. The evening opens with music from Orcas resident Rafe Pearlman. The film follows a journey through Turkey, Morocco, and Malaysia, exploring how music and listening connect us to culture, community, and ourselves. Tickets: $40/$30/$20 ($10 students). 16+ Volleyball
Wednesday/Sunday from 7:30-9:30pm at the Old Gym
Join adult volleyball players in the gym to learn volleyball and put your skills to the test in rounds of short games. New and experienced players are invited to join and play along. Several players are needed to help set-up and remove the net each time. Indoor shoes are required.
