Advanced Stand-Up Paddleboard Clinic

Spring Cleaning at Moran State Park
April 14th at 9:00am at the Cascade Lake Picnic Shelter
Volunteers will meet at the Cascade Lake Shelter for coffee and park staff will tell us which areas were hit hardest by the winter storms. After a few hours of cleaning, a tasty lunch will be served, courtesy of Pat Muffett and Karen and Ken Speck. Please bring gloves, parking is free.

Camp Orkila Kids Spring Roar
April 14th at 1:00pm
ROAR is a Rogue Obstacle Adventure Race including elements of mud, water, and obstacles! Parents may join participate at no additional cost, and participants between the ages of 5-7 must be accompanied on the course by an adult. Cost is $10 online and $15 on the day of race.

The Orcas Island Community Gospel Choir, under the direction of Dr. Stephen Newby, will perform Robert Ray’s Gospel Mass. Tickets are available for a suggested donation of $20.

Salish Sea Early Music Festival
April 14th at 7:00pm at the Orcas Adventist Chapel
Featuring viola da gambist Susie Napper and renaissance and baroque flutist Jeffrey Cohan in an exploration of poetry and song-inspired duos. Admission is by suggested donation of $15, $20 or $25. Ages 18 and under are free.

History Matinee

Orcas Island Historical Museums presents a fascinating book written by Helene Glidden called The Light on the Island. Mike McCloskey, publisher of San Juan Books, will share wonderful stories about Helene, who calls herself Angie in the story and what it was like growing up on Patos Island. This is a free community event and everyone is welcome!

A-OK’s Clay Cafe
April 15th from 2:00-5:00pm at the Orcas Island Art Room
Come support art in our public schools while having fun creating something beautiful! Select and purchase from a variety of new bisque ware and paint your selections with the colorful glazes provided. A-OK will fire the pieces, and they will be ready for pick-up in the High School Art Room in time for Mother’s Day and Father’s Day.

Francis Racey Celebration of Life
April 15th at 4:00pm at Oddfellows Hall
On January 12, 2018, Francis, a longtime Orcas resident, passed. He brought compassion, comfort, and dignity to islanders and their families facing end of life. Music and remembrances start at 4:00pm, followed by a potluck dinner and music making and dancing.
