Household Hazardous Waste Day
November 2nd from 10:00am-2:00pm at the Orcas Transfer Station
Orcas Recycling Services and San Juan County Public Works will host a HHW Pick-up at the Orcas Transfer Station available to households only. Gasoline and latex paint will not be accepted at this event, although latex recycling is always available for a small fee. Please refer to the Hazardous Waste page to learn more about what you can bring, and what you can’t!

Medicare Part D Walk-in Clinic
November 2nd from 1:00-4:00pm at the Orcas Library
Please plan to bring a list of the prescription medicines you take, including the dosage for each, and our volunteers will show you how much you are likely to pay for drugs and insurance in 2019 and help you sign up for a new plan if needed. Each year between October 15 and December 7 you are given a chance to review your Medicare drug and Medicare Advantage plans to see if they still work for you.

Talking Trash: Imagining the Future for Solid Waste on Orcas
November 3rd from 2:00-5:00pm at the Orcas Fire Station
Join Orcas Recycling Services/The Exchange and special guests for an interactive community conversation on the future of solid waste on Orcas. The participatory event will include a panel presentation, Q&A, group discussions and community input on the future of waste management on Orcas Island.

Holiday Dinner at Orcas Center

Bingo for Turkeys

The American Legion will be hosting the annual Turkey Shoot–play Bingo, or roll the dice for a chance to win a turkey! The Ladies Auxiliary will also be serving turkey dinner. Cost is $12 for adults and $8 for seniors and children. Pie will also be available for $1 a slice.

Join speaker Roger Sherman as he discusses one of his favorite subjects and composers, Johann Sebastian Bach, in a lecture titled Bach by the Numbers: Symbols and Puzzles. Admission is by donation.

A-OK Clay Cafe
November 4th from 2:00-5:00pm in the Orcas High School Art Room
Choose from a wide variety of bisque ware–plates, bowls, mugs, vases, teapots, piggy banks, picture frames, and more! Purchase your favorites, and let your imagination run wild as you paint them with the colorful glazes provided. A-OK (Art for Orcas Kids) will fire your pieces and have them ready for pick-up in time for Holiday gifts.
