Community Listening Forum
November 7th from 8:00-11:30am at the Emmanuel Episcopal Church
In 2016, the Washington Department of Social and Health Services established a goal of decreasing poverty by half by 2025 in a way that eliminates disparities. To inform this goal, we are touring the state and holding community listening forums to learn about the unique experiences of economic hardship in Washington and to experience the community-led efforts to promote intergenerational opportunity and economic success.

Family Caregiver Workshop
Wednesdays through November 7th from 1:00-3:30pm at the Orcas Senior Center
Join us for this free workshop for family caregivers, led by Jami Mitchell and Wendy Stephens. The 6-week class helps caregivers practice tools that support their own needs so that they can be effective at caring for their loved ones. Falling in Love with Poetry
November 7th at 6:00pm at the Orcas Library
Drawing on diverse poets, including the rich contribution of Washington State’s poets, poet and performer Judith Adams takes us on a journey to rediscover the music, power, humor, and strength of poetry, showing how it can radically enhance, change, and even save our lives. This event is free to the public.

Ocean Night: Fantastic Fish & Finding Nemo
November 7th at 7:00pm at Seaview Theater
The SeaDoc Society is hosting a series of monthly science talks during the winter months called Ocean Night–a free, family-friendly event on the first Wednesday of every month. The debut event will feature Dr. Adam Summers of the University of Washington’s Friday Harbor Labs, who was also a science advisor on the Pixar film, Finding Nemo.Ocean Night is free and food and drinks will be available for purchase at the Sea View snack bar beginning at 6:30pm
