Sidewalk Food Festival
August 22nd & 23rd from 11:00am-4:00pm at Island Market
Island Market’s favorite spicy tradition is back! On August 22–23, the store will host its annual Hatch Chile Roast—two days of live chile roasting, tasty bites, and plenty of good vibes outside the store. Guests can enjoy great food, delicious samples, and that amazing smoky roasted chile aroma that fills the air.

Fun in the Park: Frisbee Fun

Live Music with Dr. Dirty
August 22nd at 1:00pm at the Orcas Senior Center
Get ready for a nostalgic afternoon when local legend Terry “Dr. Dirty” Anderson brings his guitar, his voice—and his time machine—to Orcas Senior Center. A dynamic live singer and guitarist, Terry has been delighting island audiences for over 50 years with the greatest hits of the 1950s, ’60s, and ’70s. Expect a lively, interactive performance where sing-alongs are encouraged and timeless melodies unlock treasured memories.

Teen Anime & Manga Fridays

This program runs June 20-August 22.  This summer, we’re diving into Delicious in Dungeon—where fantasy meets food in the most unexpected (and hilarious) ways. Join us each week for episodes, manga chats, snacks, and hangouts. All teens welcome. Come nerd out with us!

Needlework Circle at The Orcas Senior Center
Fridays from 2:00-6:00pm
Join this weekly gathering for knitters, crocheters, embroiderers, and all needleworkers at Orcas Senior Center, every Friday at 2pm. Come hang out—no project required! Whether you haven’t knitted in years, want to learn to crochet, or just want to relax and chat, you’ll find a wonderful selection of donated yarn, needles, books, and plenty of friendly advice. Art Opening & Reception
August 22nd from 5:30-7:00pm at Orcas Center
In the Main Lobby, artists Kathy Youngren, Mary Jane Elgin, and Susan Singleton present a collection of works exploring abstraction, texture, and form – from evocative landscapes and ceramics to layered mixed-media pieces. In the Madrona Room, explore the Friends and Collaborations community show: A celebration of connection, creativity, and shared vision. Featuring artwork inspired by friendship and co-creation, the exhibit includes paintings, photography, and collaborative projects like community quilts. All are welcome for a free opening reception with complementary light refreshments from 5:30-7:00pm.

Orcas Island Farmers Market

The 2025 Summer Farmers Market promises to be better than ever! All Summer long you can head down to the Village Green every Saturday from 10am-2pm and support your favorite vendors, farmers and food growers, and catch some amazing musical talent from the stage.  Featuring live music by Summer Barbone.

Trashion Fashion Workshop
August 23rd from 10:00am-2:00pm at Orcas Center
What is Trashion Fashion? It is more than funky outfits made from discarded materials. Trashion Fashion is a vibrant form of art and design that celebrates recycling, upcycling, and creative waste reduction. This movement invites us to reimagine what we throw away and transform it into something beautiful and meaningful.  All workshops are free and include access to unusual and fun materials, sewing machines, glue guns, and odd bits and bobs. Bring your own “trash” and treasures to make your design truly your own.

Microplastics Beach Clean-up
August 23rd from 11:00am-1:00pm at Eastsound Waterfront Park
Join The Exchange on Saturday, August 23, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Eastsound Waterfront Park for a hands-on effort to tackle microplastics pollution. Volunteers will help remove harmful debris from our shoreline, making Orcas Island cleaner and safer for marine life. Supplies and gloves will be provided. Participants will also have the opportunity to learn more about the impacts of microplastics and what we can do to protect our oceans. Locals and Visitors welcome!

Family Dance at Odd Fellows Hall
August 23rd from 7:00-10:00pm
The entire community is invited to an all-ages extravaganza on Saturday, August 23! The night will feature dance music from ABBA to Stevie Wonder, games, snacks, and fun. Local DJs & family duo Bruce and Parker Pavitt are excited to share an eclectic mix of their personal favorites during this shared set. Suggested donation on a sliding scale from $5-50. Funds raised will go towards supporting ongoing operations and programming at the Hall. Everyone is welcome!
