Join this weekly gathering for knitters, crocheters, embroiderers, and all needleworkers at Orcas Senior Center, every Friday at 2pm. Come hang out—no project required! Whether you haven’t knitted in years, want to learn to crochet, or just want to relax and chat, you’ll find a wonderful selection of donated yarn, needles, books, and plenty of friendly advice. On Stage at Orcas Center: Vexing Left
December 12th at 7:00pm
The new multigenerational trio of Vexing Left consists of sax, bass, drums and vocals that play with sparse, simple dynamics between heavy this and jazz that. Improvisational sax and vocals weave through weirdness and sultry, making each live performance unique. Opening the set is island favorite Wild Child. The group will play classic rock and favorite tunes from the 1960s to 1990s. Tickets range in price from $10-$50, with a special $10 price for students.

On Stage at The Grange: A Christmas Carol
December 12th & 13th at 7:00pm, December 14th at 2:00pm
The Actor’s Theater of Orcas Island is proud to continue its holiday tradition of a radio version of a classic Christmas show. This year we are presenting our radio version of A Christmas Carol, by Charles Dickens. Tickets are $15, available online through Brown Paper Tickets HERE at Darvill’s bookstore, and at the Grange door.

Live Music at Victorian Valley Chapel: John Reischman & Eli West

Join us for the continuation of the Christmas Concert series at Victorian Valley Chapel established by the late Susan Osborne. John and Eli will play acoustic duets on mandolin and guitar, with other instruments in-between.  Also an open space to share stories of the series and traditions that Susan Osborne created in her time at the chapel.

Adult Ballet: Level 1 Barre & Stretch
Saturdays from 9:30-10:30am at the Orcas Center
Adults Ballet classes are a great way to learn basic ballet steps at the barre to help stretch and strengthen your body. Some ballet classes will learn short choreography in the middle of the floor and work on turns, leaps and jumps. Dancers of all levels are welcome to come give these classes a try. Ages 16+. Winter Wonderland at Doe Bay
December 13th at 10:00am
Join Doe Bay for a festive day of creativity, music, and holiday magic!  Enjoy a craft workshop and Christmas carol sing-along, plus good vibes and island beauty throughout the weekend! Join us from 10am-12pm for crafts with Amanda Snouffer and family, at the Yoga Studio.  At 4:30pm there will be cider, snacks, and a holiday sing-along by the OK Sweethearts at the fireside.

Lions Club Santa Ship
December 13th at 1:00pm at the Orcas Ferry Landing
This highly anticipated annual tradition brings Santa to the islands beginning with Waldron at 8am before stopping at Orcas, then Shaw,  Blakely, Lopez, and Decatur. Gifts for the kids (including special packages for babies) and holiday spirit for all! Refreshments are generously provided by Orcas Village Store. See you there!

On Stage at Orcas Center: 13 to Midnight
December 13th at 3:00pm
On Taylor’s Swift’s birthday, Orcas Center is hosting 13 Til Midnight, a Taylor Swift Tribute Band, on the main stage. Featuring top vocal talent and a studio-quality band, 13 Til Midnight takes you on a journey through Swift’s greatest hits, deep cuts, and fan favorites, across eras and albums. Get ready to sing along and join in a live, up close and personal experience of Swift’s music.

Second Saturday Teen Game Tournament
December 13th from 3:30-5:30 at the Orcas Library
Battle it out on the big screen! Compete for bragging rights (and prizes) in our monthly teen gaming tournament. Grades 6-12.

35+ Basketball
Sundays from 4:00-6:00pm at the Orcas Island High School Gym
Join other adult basketball players in pick-up basketball games on the full court in the gym. New and experienced players are invited to join a team. The gym opens at 4pm each Sunday, and play continues through 6pm. Indoor shoes are required. Balls and a first aid kit are provided. Pay $5 for a one-time drop-in, or pay $30 for a 6 month all-access pass that allows you to drop-in to any adult sport, including soccer, volleyball, and ultimate frisbee. Buy your Drop-in Pass Here.

16+ Volleyball
Wednesday/Sunday from 7:30-9:30pm at the Old Gym
Join adult volleyball players in the gym to learn volleyball and put your skills to the test in rounds of short games. New and experienced players are invited to join and play along. Several players are needed to help set-up and remove the net each time. Indoor shoes are required. Pay $5 for a one-time drop-in, or pay $30 for a 6 month all-access pass that allows you to drop-in to any adult sport, including soccer, basketball, and ultimate frisbee.
