Library Board Retreat

The Orcas Island Library Board of Trustees will have a Planning Retreat on Friday, April 7th.  Attendance will be both in
person in the Community Room at the Library and via Zoom.  This is an open public meeting, although there is no public comment during the meeting itself. Annual Lions Club Easter Egg Hunt
April 8th at 10:00am sharp at Cascade Lake
The Orcas Island Lions Club is happy to offer the Annual Easter Egg Hunt at its traditional location beside the playground at Cascade Lake in Moran State Park. This event is always over quickly, so come early to get ready! Easter Eggs with sweets inside will be hidden about, but all children who come will leave with a bag of treats. Come meet the Easter Bunny, bring your basket for the gathering and enjoy the festivities. There will be a special face-painting station for kids! Event parking has been prepaid by the Orcas Island Lions Club.

Baby Saturdays at Lum Farm

Celebrate Spring with the newest crop of super cute animal babies! Islanders (and visitors) of all ages are invited to come bask in the sun alongside the 2023 lamb and goat kids. This event is free; donations are gratefully accepted. Please leave your dogs at home (or in your vehicle). Parking is limited.

Yarn Dyeing Workshop
April 8th from 1:00-3:30pm
Salish Sea Yarn Co. is offering a Yarn Dyeing Workshop. This two and half hour hands-on workshop will cover the ins and out’ of synthetic dyeing on protein fibers and you will dye your very own skein!

Community Seder at Orcas Island Library
April 8th at 4:00pm
Whether you are by yourself or with family, there is a wonderful Community Passover Seder to attend.  The Community Seder will take place at at the Orcas Public Library in the meeting room. Because there are no cooking facilities at the Library, the meal will be potluck. Please contact Holly King at holly@trevoci.com to RSVP or with any other questions.

On Stage at Orcas Center: The Just and the Blind
April 8th at 5:00pm
Doors open at 5:00pm for Balinese appetizers and the great sounds of the Steve Alboucq and the Oliver Groenewald Quintet in the Madrona Room. The performance begins at 7:00pm on Center Stage.

Pop-Up at Roots
April 8th at 5:00 & 7:00pm
London based chef Danny Jack will be popping up at Roots for one day only, where he’ll be cooking up an a la carte menu with a nod to some classic British dishes created using Island grown produce.  The pop up will launch following a book signing earlier the same day at Darvill’s Bookstore of the newly released ‘Vanlife Cookbook’ co-written with his Orcas raised wife Hailee Kukura.  There will be two seatings at 5pm and 7pm. Seating is limited.

Easter Jazz Brunch
April 9th at The Orcas Hotel
Celebrate Easter with a Jazz Brunch at The Orcas Hotel. Steve Alboucq and Gene Nery will be performing live in the main dining room. Chef Quinn will be preparing a classic brunch menu that will appeal to the whole family! Kids are welcome to join and play on the lawn outdoors if live music isn’t their thing.  Cost is $45 for adults, $15 for kids.  Reservations can be made at www.orcashotel.com

Sunday Jazz Supper Club
Sundays in April at the Orcas Hotel
Enjoy a live Jazz performance in the Orcas Hotel’s intimate dining room with guest musicians Martin Lund or Steve Alboucq and Gene Nery. Chef Quinn will prepare a special three course menu for each evening. As always, dietary restrictions are always happily accommodated with advance notice when booking.
