Needlework Circle at The Orcas Senior Center

Join this weekly gathering for knitters, crocheters, embroiderers, and all needleworkers at Orcas Senior Center, every Friday at 2pm. Come hang out—no project required! Whether you haven’t knitted in years, want to learn to crochet, or just want to relax and chat, you’ll find a wonderful selection of donated yarn, needles, books, and plenty of friendly advice. Trick-or-Treat for Books

Ghouls, ghosts, goblins, and youth are invited to the annual Trick-Or-Treating for Books event at the Orcas Island Public Library. Come in costume and take home a free book thanks to a generous donation from the Friends of the Orcas Island Library.
Eastsound Halloween
October 31st from 3:30-7:00pm
All your favorite Halloween fun will be in full effect. This year’s Trunk or Treat will be in front of the Village Green beginning at 3:30pm. Then make your way trick or treating down North Beach for the 3rd Annual Chamber Costume Contest in front of the Chamber office at 5pm!
Halloween Party at the American Legion

Bring the kids to the American Legion for some spooktacular Halloween fun and tasty treats! Stop by in costume and enjoy goodies, giggles, and a frightfully good time!

High School Halloween Laser Tag
October 31st from 8:00-11:00pm at The Funhouse
The Funhouse is hosting its annual high school Halloween Party, but this time, there’s laser tag. Join the laser tag fun outside with DJ Teacher’s Pet, and games, food and karaoke inside! Come in costume (there will be a contest), but be sure that you’re able to dodge, duck, and dive during laser tag!
Odd Fellows Halloween Dance
October 31st from 8:30pm-Midnight
Celebrate Halloween at the Odd Fellows Hall for their annual dance. All ages are welcome! This dance is a benefit for the Odd Fellows Scholarship Fund for graduating high school students and towards the care and upkeep of our beloved community building. Costume prize at intermission. The cost is $15, but you can give more if you want to. Come dance and enjoy the creative costumes at the annual Odd Fellows Halloween Dance!
Orcas Island Fall Farmers Market

Now through November, you can head over to the Orcas Island School Cafeteria every Saturday and support your favorite vendors, farmers, and food growers, and catch some amazing musical talent from the stage. Death Café
November 1st from 1:00-3:00pm at the Emmanuel Episcopal Parish Hall
Begun in Europe, reshaped in the UK by Jon Underwood, Death Café spread into a global forum. The motto: “To increase awareness of death with a view to helping people make the most of their (finite) lives.” Topics are as diverse as the people who attend, including metaphysics, grief, hospice versus palliative care, physiology of death, advanced care directives, dying differently, death doulas, slow medicine, green burials, medical aid in dying (DWD). Death Café endorses no particular perspective and offers a supportive open structure to encourage a rich community conversation about death, with cake!
Mushroom Identification Hike
November 1st at 2:30pm at the Little Summit Parking Area
Please join local naturalist River Augenstein for this series of FREE mushroom identification hikes “Peak Experiences with Mountain Mushrooms” – 2 mile out and back trail starts at the dramatic Little Summit overlook and winds through dense high elevation forests. Moderate uphill sections of trail. Meet at Little Summit parking area. You will learn about many of the regions distinctive mushroom species; where they grow, how they live and and which species are edible or medicinal. There will be an emphasis on mycological nomenclature using the binomial system of classification. All hikes begin at 2:30pm sharp Meet at Trailhead. Call 360.376.5080 for more information. 3rd Annual Moreno Family Dia De Los Muertos Celebration
November 1st from 5:00-9:00pm at The Village Green
Join the Morenos for the 3rd annual Day of the Dead Celebration on the Village Green! Meet up at 4:45pm in front of Ladybug Pizza for a candlelit procession leading to the Green. Celebrate your past loved ones with face painting, music, dancing and food, in a beautiful graveyard setting. Make a dish to share and tell the story of your past loved ones. Create an ofrenda to honor your loved one – human or animal ! Keep the memory of your past loved ones alive. Dress up and dress warm. Join the Catrina Costume contest and win a prize!
Deer Harbor Schoolhouse Concert

The Deer Harbor Community Club is thrilled to announce the first in an ongoing series of “Schoolhouse Concerts” on Saturday November 1st at 7:00pm with JP & the OK Rhythm Boys performing in Deer Harbor’s historic schoolhouse. Admission by donation – all gifts will help fund future concerts and other community events. Bring your boots and be ready for an evening of music, smiles, and good fun with good neighbors!
