In many disasters and critical need scenarios – like mass shootings, natural disasters, or large-scale accidents, a significant amount of blood is required immediately. However, with widespread blood shortages, most blood centers do not have the blood on the shelves to handle this type of emergency. That’s why Bloodworks Northwest is collecting additional units of blood as part of our on-call status with the Blood Emergency Readiness Corps. The blood you donate means they’ll have an emergency shipment ready to rush to a disaster if called upon, without delays or uncertainty. Strengthening Families Workshop
Wednesdays through March 17th from 5:00-7:00pm at The Funhouse Commons
Strengthening Families 10-14 is a free seven week workshop for families with youth who are 10-14 years old. With a focus on empathy-building, healthy boundaries, and resiliency to peer-pressure, this program is designed to prepare families with the tools to navigate this stage of life together. Youth and adults leave with concrete skills to approach this next chapter of life. Dinner is provided for free at the beginning of each program, followed by youth and parent/caregiver breakout sessions where groups will learn skills from the evidence based curriculum and from each other. The program ends with a family group session, where parents and youth come together to practice what they’ve learned (ex, family meetings, active listening) and play games together.
