OPALCO Annual Meeting Festival
April 26th from 3:00-6:00pm at the OPALCO Parking Lot
From swag giveaways to an EV show and informational booths, there’s something for everyone at this co-op member appreciation event! OPALCO’s linecrew will host safety demos and games, showing how they keep our community powered up and safe.  Kids can get their own lineworker hard hat, touch a truck and play in a bouncy house. There will be BBQ and a raffle, where you can walk away with fantastic, valuable, and useful electric prizes.

On Stage at Orcas Center: Into the Woods
April 25th-May 11th
The Brothers Grimm hit Orcas Center’s Main Stage this spring with an epic fairytale about wishes, family and the choices we make: Into the Woods. Directed by Jake Perrine.

Lum Farm invites you to celebrate Spring with their newest crop of farm babies with a free baby-viewing and petting zoo event (donations gratefully accepted).  The farm stand is also open during this time.

Annual Bill Yarlott Youth Fishing Derby
April 28th at Cascade Lake at Daybreak
Starting at daybreak, participants will gather at the Cascade Day Use Shelter for a free pancake breakfast to fuel up for a morning of fishing fun. At 11am, the excitement will peak as participants bring their catches to the weigh-in station. Prizes will be awarded for various categories, including biggest fish, best sportmanship, and more.

Join us for pancakes, choice of bacon or sausage, two eggs, and coffee, tea or orange juice!

Indoor Pickleball

Get out and Hike

Mount Constitution Loop – Difficult

6.7 miles. 1,490 feet elevation gain and loss For a great exploratory trek across Mount Constitution’s steep eastern face try the Mount Constitution Loop trail. Park at Mountain Lake to commence a steep climb towards the crest of the mountain where the trail will join with the Little Summit to Mount Constitution Trail. Follow the route through wooded hills, with marvelous views of Lummi Island and the Salish Sea, towards the summit and stone tower lookout. Once at the summit, the trail crosses the parking lot and continues down to Twin Lakes, then running south for a shaded woodland hike through the park’s largely undisturbed wooded interior back to Mountain Lake. Ambitious hikers can continue on the Mountain Lake Loop Trail, or cut straight back to the camping area. Make sure to come well prepared for this long, invigorating hike through some of Moran State Park’s most variable and primal terrain.

‘Tis a tale as old as time (or at least two hundred and fifty years, give or take): Man put meat, butter, and oil together, cooked it, and the best food in the world was made! Okay, maybe a bit of an exaggeration; what you need to know is this: I love southern cuisine. Yes, I do realize most of it is likely not the healthiest option out there (heck, even the greens are usually slathered in butter and salt), but southern food is still one of the most beloved edible styles out there. Which is quite a bit of preamble to get to my point: Matthew’s Smokehouse & Deli nailed it down easily and left me excited for the opportunity to grace its halls with my gluttonous presence another time. Also, I must be forthcoming with you, dear readers, that though our first foray into the culinary world of Orcas Island was quite the side of the finer things in life, Matthew’s Smokehouse elects for a more stripped-down feel. Seating is open, food is ordered at a counter (as are drinks), and the only service you receive from the staff besides ordering and payment is being given your meal. Patrons collect their own silverware, fill their own water glasses, and retrieve…
